Village Tea, Mamaki of Hawaii to develop new line of herbal teas
Village Tea of Dallas has partnered with tea grower and producer Mamaki of Hawaii for the development of a new range of blended loose leaf tea blends and ready to drink tea-based beverages.
Under the partnership, Village Tea will manufacture the beverages using Mamaki tea leaves grown at its Wood Valley plantation near Pahala on the Big Island of Hawaii.
A new line of exotic functional teas is expected to be introduced in early 2014, with Mama-Kii as the first product.
Mamaki of Hawaii president Curt Borman said that the company believes that Village Tea represents Mamaki's goal to provide this healthy, indigenous Hawaiian herb to the US mainland.
Village Tea CEO Janon Costley said as they seek to differentiate themselves in the market place it is important that they continue to push the envelope to identify and explore different opportunities to provide customers with unique blends and new products, especially in the functional tea category which they are just beginning to expand within their assortment.
"As the largest producer of this product in Hawaii we feel that we have found such a partner in Mamaki of Hawaii."
